Bucher Emhart Glass appoints new Vice President for their container Inspection Business

Mike replaces Jeff Hartung, who left Bucher Emhart Glass in August 2013 to pursue new opportunities. A graduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mike has many years’ experience in inspection technology for the packaging industry. Early in his career, he oversaw operations at BWI’s vision-inspection systems division. He then founded his own business, which developed custom vision-inspection solutions as well as supporting products made by ICS Inex. He joined what was then Emhart Glass when the company acquired Inex in 2007, becoming Sales Director for Northern Europe.

As VP Inspection, Mike will have overall responsibility for Bucher Emhart Glass’ glass-container inspection business. He will divide his time between the company’s inspection-focused sites, while also having a desk at its headquarters in Switzerland. ‘I’ve always loved photography and electronics, which is why I originally began working with machine vision technology,’ recalls Mike. ‘Since then, I’ve worked on inspecting everything from aerosol caps to chocolate bars, as well as containers. I’m delighted to be taking over our Inspection Business at a time when maturing product lines such as FleXinspect and MiniLab, plus new technologies like FlexRadar, are opening up such
exciting opportunities.’

‘I’m very pleased to welcome Mike to his new role as VP Inspection Business,’ says Martin Jetter, President of Bucher Emhart Glass. ‘As his career shows, he understands inspection through and through. He’s also proved himself commercially, both as an entrepreneur and within Bucher Emhart Glass over the last five years. Along with everyone in the company, I wish him all the best in his new role.’
